Housing associations and social housing providers have been using PB for many years. This is just one example, from 2015, run by Salix Homes in Salford. Since it began five years ago, the initiative has channelled £157,000 into the local community and supported 75 local projects.
If you lived on a Salix Homes estate or provide a service that benefits residents, you could apply to get funding from £250 – £4,000 for your idea! You could apply individually, as part of a group of residents or leaseholders as part of a community or residents group.
It might be for a community gardening project or to fund an event…the sky is the limit! They had a total of £35,000 available. £3,000 was aside especially for young people (aged 11 – 24). Youth bids can be made for £50 – £500.
Applying was simple:
- Think of an idea
- Download the application form and guidance notes below (there was a different one for young people!)
- They shortlisted applications before letting people know if its been successful
- Voting day was on Saturday 27 June 2015
The website also provides examples of the applications forms for adults and children and the guidance document.
