People from Clarksfield, Greenacres and Littlemoor were invited to Big Local Oldham’s Up2us event on Saturday 27th June 2-5 at Elim Fountain of Hope Church, Greenacres Road.
This was an exciting opportunity for local people to find out about activities in the area and decide how funding will be spent in their own neighbourhood. At the event £14,000 was distributed amongst projects in Clarksfield, Greenacres and Littlemoor, with grants of up to £1000.
Up2us funding was distributed using the Participatory Budgeting method, and people who live, work, volunteer or are members of groups in the area decided which projects will be funded. Each of the groups that applied for funding put on a 3 minute presentation to the audience. After the presentations the audience voted for their favourite projects, and the projects with the most votes will receive funding.
The day was a lot of fun, and compered by Ali Kahn of Big Comedy Shop. Lovely food was provided for everybody at the event, and Oldham Play Action Group provided arts and crafts for children.
Everybody who lives, works, volunteers or is a member of a group based in the area and is aged 16 or over was entitled to a vote at the decision event.
