There will be a PB focussed conference in Stockholm on the 17th and 18th May 2018, organised by the Swedish Association of Local Authorities (SALAR), which will see experts in participatory budgeting coming from across the world.
This is a great opportunity if you want to learn more about participatory budgeting and participation in complex issues such as social inclusion and infrastructure development. At the conference you will be able to learn from the experiences of others, share yours and discuss how participatory processes can be developed in the future.
The UK, and in particular Scotland will be well represented, through the participation of Jez Hall from PB Partners, Simon Cameron, Participatory Budgeting Development Manager from Cosla, and also Luton Borough Council’s Marek Lubelski. Luton is one of the few English councils to be doing PB through its Your Say, Your Way PB programme, that has been running for many years.
With the growth of PB across Northern Europe, including in the Nordic countries, Poland, Scotland and exciting citizen engagement work in Iceland, that is pioneering the use of civic tech, we are hopeful that this conference stimulates a growing learning and exchange network for PB within our unique ‘northern fringe’.
