Schools play a central role in developing the life-skills and confidence of young people.
Participatory budgeting (PB) is a proven deliberative process that can inspire, empower and engage young people in a cooperative, democratic and purposeful way.
Bringing the two together has many positive benefits for schools, for society and for young people.
In the USA, and in experiences in Europe his potential is already being explored. Now a new initiative or push is starting to raise the profile of PB in Schools in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Led by PB Partners, a project of Shared Future CIC, in partnership with Werdelin Education, its kicking off with a co-design workshop in Birmingham in March 2019.
