‘Your Say Your Way’ is a programme run by Luton Borough Council’s Neighbourhood Governance team. They want to make it easier for people to influence decisions in their neighbourhood.
In October 2013 they held two Community Planning Decision Days which covered the 4 wards in the East Luton area where local people and organisations were able to meet with agencies such as Bedfordshire Police, NHS (Clinical Commissioning Group) and Luton Borough Council, to consider issues affecting their community.
As a result, there is now an agreed list of local priorities for the area. The Council and partners are developing responses to the issues raised and are now about to start on the next part of the programme which looks for local projects that will help to address them.
Community groups, local organisations and resident groups also attended a Participatory Budgeting Decision Day on the 8th February 2014 where local people voted on the projects that they wanted to see taking place in their area. The majority of the applicants received funding for their projects which will in turn improve the opportunities and facilities in their wards.
There will be further opportunities for groups to apply for funding in the future.
