The eight projects with the highest number of votes by the community of The Grange in Runcorn were announced at an event held last night at the Grange Youth Hub by Cheshire’s Police & Crime Commissioner John Dwyer.
“I was proud to announce the winning projects as they are all worthy causes covering a wide range of activities for youngsters to older residents of the Grange. The level of community involvement in this project has been outstanding and it demonstrates that people do want to make a difference if you enable them to do so by providing some funding which I have been delighted to do” said John Dwyer.
620 people voted for the projects put forwards in this second round of funding.
John Dwyer added, “The first round of projects that were funded are currently being evaluated and have been achieving real successes. Amongst them; the Job Club has helped 3 people into employment, the lunch club at the Funny Onion Café is packed every Friday, Heath Rangers Football Club has created extra teams as it has so many participants and the dance club is going strong.
This project could not have happened without the support of partners including Cheshire Constabulary, Halton Housing Trust, Halton Borough Council and the Grange Forum but most of all it happened because the residents of the Grange got involved.”
The successful winners were:–
1 Runcorn Wrestling Academy
2 Sure Start to Later Life
3 Grange Kids’ Post Christmas Show
4 Runcorn Veterans’ Association
5 Children’s Karate
