Cat Johnson has posted a useful blog offering a list of 15 innovations in citizen participation, running from Porto Alegre to Boston’s recent youth led programme. She lists 15 projects from around the world that demonstrate the potential of the PB process.
Citing from the report "The first city in the U.S. to instate youth PB, Boston launched its initiative in early-2014 allowing young people, ages 12-25, to decide how $1 million of the capital budget is spent. Winning programs include park and playground upgrades, art walls, Chromebooks for local high schools, and a skate park feasibility study."
Cat goes on to point to some useful resources: "If you’d like to start PB in your community, check out Shareable’s guide, “How to Start Participatory Budgeting In Your City” and visit the North American Participatory Budgeting Project’s resource library."
